At Gnomedex she coordinated the fund raising of over $3k from people at the event and on the internet, using paypal, twitter, and her blog... "Hey John, what did you do this weekend?" "Oh, you know... sent a Cambodian girl to College" -- it's a good feeling :) You can do some amazing things in this area with the help of social media.
