“The Choices of Ghosts”
If you follow me on twitter, you may have seen me tweeting about short film my friend Ben Cunis (of Synetic fame– seriously, someday I will actually blog about them) and friends recently made which won a contest.
The film is called “The Choices of Ghosts” and was created in 24 hours for the 2008 DC film race.
As you can see, it’s pretty awesome. The Vimeo version is better, but I couldn’t figure out how to embed that one. See it here.
They won Best Film, but also Best Leading Actor (congrats, Ben!), Best Acting Ensemble, Best Original Music Score (yay for Konstantin, whom I’ve never met but whose music I adore!.. actually, maybe I have met him. hmm. I digress…), Best Sound Design, and Best Costume design!!! (see all awards here) Long story short– huge congratulations to Granite Kiss Productions!!!!
In case you really really enjoyed that and are aching for more “Absurdist-Revenge-Noir” (no, I didn’t make that up. Yes, someone else did), you’re in luck as the award-winning group is looking to create a web series around the Hamilton Carver character. I don’t know many details, but I DO know that “web series” means INTERNET!!! Yay!!! Finally something I understand! (unlike acting or film or absurdist noir) What does this have to do w/ me? NOTHING. Unless… unless I happen to be a viral marketing expert, in which case I suddenly become extremely usefull! (ok, no I’m not an expert by any means, but compared to Ben I am because I use twitter and he doesn’t. That logic works, right? No? )
Anyway– I now have an excuse to learn even more about the internet so that I have something helpful to say to Ben when it comes time to actually release this webseries, because their creative efforts shouldn’t fail to reach audiences because of crappy marketing. All it really takes is a healthy understanding of how information spreads online. That, or a friend/fan who happens to be an internet nerd.
